I used tree climbers years ago but I would get hung up in the brush and make so much noise that by time I got set up every animal for hudreds of yards had already made there escape. I do not have wide shoulders and this stand feels almost like nothing as you wind your way through the woods. With my old stand it seemed I used to get hung up on every branch out there. Not only is this stand light but much quieter while walking. I attached a strip of an old seatbelt on the bottom stand to lift it with your feet just like i riged up on my old stand. . You will really like the way the cable system works and I am much more confident that it will not come out of its groove as your climbing like what (could) happen on one of their competitors stands. The price is the reason I originally chose this stand, however there is so many reasons to choose it once you have tried one. The cable system and the way they designed their hinges make it totally collapsible and I will absolutely recomend one to all of my hunting friends.

The stand is ok but needs many improvements. All the holes still have burs inside the tubes which make the cable difficult to remove and shred the cable ends after first use. The rubber compound used on the ends smell horrible and if I can smell it from five feet, the deer can smell it from a mile. There is a bar behind the seat that becomes painful after a couple of hours. The stirrups are also cumbersome and require use of a heel strap to function properly which is just one more strap to deal with.

I am an avid hunter and use stands about 5 months out of every year all over the country. To my knowledge there is not a suitable climbing stand on the market today. I really was disappointed when Gorilla and other manufacturing companies went to changing up designs that were tried and true. Hunters need a climbing stand that: 1. Doesn't get them in a bind when that moment of truth presents itself so do away with the seats that hang down 2. Think about a design of a hand climber seat combo with your lock-on pad design 3. Design the bottom part as the old silver back or kong lock- on except with climbing capabilities 4. Offer the stand without all those raised arm rest etc. because that is something else that can get in the way of you swinging a bow to certain position when that big buck decides to go around to the side Doug
